The Taste of Andersonville Dinner Crawl is less than 2 weeks away, so I thought I’d give you a sneak peek into the deliciousness that awaits you if you’re planning on coming (or what you’ll be missing if you don’t…). Just like last year, the Taste is broken up into 2 routes, Salt and Pepper, with about 12 restaurants on each route. You can pick one or the other ($25 in advance), or do both with the Whole Enchilada ($40 in advance). Get your tickets early, because the price increases at the door to $30 and $50 (not to mention the fact that you run the risk of the event selling out and you not getting a ticket at all…).
We’ve been busy planning this great event, and the restaurants have been busy as well. Read on for an exclusive preview of what a few of the restaurants will be serving!
Jason gets all of his holiday shopping done at last year's Late-er Night Andersonville.
If you’re a procrastinator when it comes to holiday shopping, then join us for our second night of Late Night Andersonville, this Friday from 6-10pm. For four more hours, take advantage of the same discounts from Late Night Andersonville, plus once again enjoy free entertainment and refreshments!
Wondering how to wrap all of those presents you bought at Late-er Night Andersonville?
Head over to George’s Ice Cream & Sweets (5306 N. Clark) from 6-10pm for the eco-Andersonville Green Gift Wrapping Bash! It’s earth-friendly and it’s FREE (do you need any more reasons to go?).
Your Ride’s On Us! Getting to Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood by car or CTA is free from Thanksgiving through New Year’s Day. To reward holiday shoppers who patronize the neighborhood, the “Your Ride’s On Us!” program will reimburse parking or CTA fees when customers spend at least $20 during their visit to Andersonville. The promotion will last from Thanksgiving until New Year’s Day. To receive their refunds, customers mail their parking receipt or print-out from the CTA’s Chicago Card Plus website, and the receipt from their purchase, to the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce.
NEW! Email option: You can also email scanned copies of the receipts and documentation. Save a stamp (and a tree)!
CTA fares are being reimbursed to encourage sustainable forms of transportation – an effort that dovetails with the aims of the eco-Andersonville program run by the Andersonville Development Corporation, a sister organization of the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce. Well, it’s week 12 of the Andersonville Farmers Market and we’re so happy that we don’t have to say good-bye to it yet! We can’t wait for the fall’s huge crop of apples, squash, pumpkins, and especially the apple cider.
We’ve had many people tell us how excited they are that they will now get to enjoy the market for 4 more weeks. We’re definitely excited as well, but putting on a market each week is a lot of hard work! We depend on the help of many volunteers each week to help us set-up, watch the entrances, assist farmers, and take-down when everything is over.

The staff is finding that the Andersonville Farmers Market is quickly becoming the highlight of our week. We love scoping out all of the fresh produce and other yummy treats, talking with the farmers, and watching our community gather to celebrate the bounty of summer. Since it is 6 days until we get to go to the market again, we wanted to share some videos that Jason took at last night’s market to re-live the good times and introduce you to some of the farmers and their goods that make this market possible.
Well, we’re eating like kings here in Andersonville. The diversity, volume, and eye-popping freshness of the goods at last week’s farmers market was truly astonishing. Our staff has been happily munching on blueberries, raspberries, and cherries, and trading recipes that make use of the market’s array of fresh veggies, meats, and cheeses. You’ll find a few recipes direct from the farmers below. Read the rest of this entry »
