Now that it finally feels like weather in which you can have a good street festival, it is time to announce the line-up for the 45th annual Andersonville Midsommarfest on June 12 & 13. We are incredibly excited about the bands we have performing, and with the addition of an acoustic stage at the new Balmoral Beer Garden and for the first time evening entertainment at the stage at Summerdale & Clark, we will have 5 stages this year! Plus the headliner acts on the North, Center and Summerdale stages will be starting at 7:00 pm on both nights, so that means an extra hour of Maggie Speaks, Funkadesi, Mike & Joe and ‘fest favorite 16 Candles!
There will be much more information here in the next few weeks, so be sure to check back. But without further ado, the 2010 Midsommarfest stage schedule is after the jump!
The Andersonville farmers market is approaching fast, we’re counting down to our start date of June 23rd. This year’s market is full of lovely locally sourced goods. All the 2009 vendors are returning, but in case you’ve forgotten who they were (it’s been a looong winter) here’s a handy little reminder:
Keep in mind that there will also be great entertainment, eco-Andersonville presentations, and maybe a surprise or two. The first market is from 3-8pm on June 23rd, see you there!
Happy Earth Day! Eco-Andersonville is excited to celebrate Earth Day’s 40 years of cherishing, honoring, and preserving our planet. One year ago, Eco-Andersonville launched a local sustainable business certification program for Andersonville businesses. The program recognizes businesses that are making a positive impact on People, Planet, and Prosperity by adopting sustainable business practices. When we launched the program, we had three certified businesses in Andersonville. As of today, we have nine businesses! GreenSky, Avalon Chiropractic Clinic, Green Genes, Hamburger Mary’s, Joel Berman Architecture & Design LTD, SIR Spa, The Coffee Studio, Visionary Eye Care, and Painted Light Photography & Framing Gallery!
Andersonville is a special place to do business and to shop, dine, and play. Our community’s commitment to sustainability and our dedication to our unique, local businesses set us apart. We hope that you enjoy Earth Day! And remember to shop, dine, and play sustainably at our eco-Andersonville certified businesses.

Can’t wait for the summer farmers market to resume on June 23rd? Check out a special Winter Farmers Market this Saturday at Ebenezer Lutheran Church (1650 W. Foster) from 9:00am-1:00pm!
Come enjoy a market in the heart of winter with cheese, natural meat and poultry, micro-greens, apples, soap, syrup, honey, wool, raw fibers, vinegars, dried fruits, milled flours, sauces and salsas, preserves, cider, and fresh produce as available.
A community breakfast and lunch with some seasonal and local ingredients from the participating farm vendors will be served during the market while quantities last. This meal offers the opportunity to “taste and see” the products being sold at the market, provides the growers with sales before they even set up their market table, and gives members of the Andersonville community a chance to sit a spell and catch up with friends and neighbors over a tasty meal while contemplating their farmers market purchases.
Free childcare, music for children by Little Miss Ann, face painting by Lisa Gillis of My Corner Playroom, cooking demonstrations by Rene’ Rich of Learn Cook Eat and Cletus Friedman of City Provisions, wool spinning and more.

It may seem hard to believe it, but we’re less than 4 months from Midsommarfest 2010! With the snow on the ground, June 12 & 13 seems very far away, so we’ve compiled some of the best pictures from Midsommarfest 2009 to get you dreaming about warm summer weekends spent shopping unique vendors, eating festival food, drinking cold beer, and listening to fun bands.
