Now that it finally feels like weather in which you can have a good street festival, it is time to announce the line-up for the 45th annual Andersonville Midsommarfest on June 12 & 13.  We are incredibly excited about the bands we have performing, and with the addition of an acoustic stage at the new Balmoral Beer Garden and for the first time evening entertainment at the stage at Summerdale & Clark, we will have 5 stages this year!  Plus the headliner acts on the North, Center and Summerdale stages will be starting at 7:00 pm on both nights,  so that means an extra hour of Maggie Speaks, Funkadesi, Mike & Joe and ‘fest favorite 16 Candles!

There will be much more information here in the next few weeks, so be sure to check back.  But without further ado, the 2010 Midsommarfest stage schedule is after the jump!

Even those who didn't win a Midsommarfest raffle prize (pictured - sorry Dave) managed to have a good time at the festival!

Even those who didn't win a Midsommarfest raffle prize (pictured - sorry Dave!) managed to have a good time at this year's festival.

After a little bit of a delay, we drew the winners for our annual Midsommarfest raffle last week.  Congratulations to John Bauters of Rogers Park who won our grand prize of two round-trip tickets on Continental Airlines to anywhere in the US, Mexico, the Carribbean or Central America.  And thank you to Mena Tours for generously donating our grand prize.

A complete list of prizes and winners follows after the jump!

Thanks to everyone who came out to Midsommarfest this weekend!  The weather was mostly cooperative and we had a great time!  As we’re sifting through the post-Midsommarfest rubble in our office and looking back over the weekend, I wanted to post some of the best Midsommarfest-related tweets to give everyone a taste of what the weekend was like if you didn’t go, and encourage fond reminiscing if you were there.  Enjoy these tweets (some with pictures!) after the jump.

Maypole Dance

We hear it a lot this time of year: “I love Midsommarfest!” “I always make sure I’m in town that weekend.” “It’s my favorite festival of the whole summer!”

We all know there’s something special about Andersonville, and it seems to rub off on our yearly street bash. Like Andersonville, Midsommarfest is just about the most colorful, inclusive, vibrant blend you could imagine. Folks of every age, stripe, culture, demographic, and level of fabulousness join in a exuberant celebration of all that is Andersonville: from Swedish dancers to shirtless boys, from falafel to free family fun, from neighbors to ‘nother beer. Add to that over 50 bands, selections from some of our best local restaurants, and the best darn people watching this side of Wrigley Field, and you have what we think is the greatest party in town.

Midsommarfest is a world-class event, but it serves another function too. The funds raised at Midsommarfest support pretty much every other program that the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce and Andersonville Development Corporation produce year-round on behalf of the local, small businesses that make our community great. Not sure if he will be back this year. Hopefully?

Now that is seems like it may stay on the warm side weather-wise, it is time for Andersonville lovers everywhere to turn their attention to the official kickoff of the summer festival season – Midsommarfest!  This year’s festival takes place on Saturday, June 13 and Sunday June 14 from 11:00 am – 10:00 pm both days and promises to once again be (in our humble opinion) the best party in the city.  We will have delicious food, great vendors, cold beer and 4 stages of music for your carefree dancing pleasure.  The line up on all 4 stages is now final – see it after the jump!
