Week 5 of Andersonville 20/20 found your loyal Andersonville staff exhausted from a weekend of Midsommarfest, yet frantically preparing for the opening of the Andersonville Farmer’s Market the next week.  So after our annual post-Midsommarfest Monday of lying on the couch and staring off into space like zombies, it was back to the office to get ready for all of the yummy fruit, veggies, meat and other favorites starting June 24th.  But we all still found a way to spend our $20 (and then some!), so here is the staff report.

We hope everyone had a great time at Midsommarfest and got to indulge in whatever you enjoy, whether it be cold beer, dancing to great music, buying some new jewelry, devouring a bucket o’ fries with all the fixings or just checking out the scenery.  Between Midsommarfest ending and the Farmer’s Market starting this week (!), we have been a little hectic around the office.  But not so busy that we couldn’t spend our $20 (and then some!).  Here is the staff report for week 4 of the 20/20 challenge (which was technically last week, so look for another 20/20 post this week too!). We are proud to present a new initiative of the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce, Andersonville 20/20!

Andersonville 20/20 is a grassroots community-wide initiative to help support the unique and independent businesses in Andersonville by challenging our neighbors to think about how they spend 20 bucks.

It’s pretty easy to spend 20 bucks. Most of us spend this much each week eating, drinking, shopping or just plain living without really thinking about it. Andersonville 20/20 is challenging us to think about it.

YOU can join the 20/20 Challenge by signing our online pledge to spend 20 bucks each week in Andersonville for the next 20 weeks. The more people who participate in our challenge, the more we invest to keep Andersonville a great place to eat, drink, shop and live.  The independent businesses that make our community so unique would really appreciate your support.

Tell your friends about Andersonville 20/20. You can double-triple-quadruple your impact by forwarding Andersonville 20/20 to your friends and encouraging them to join the Challenge!  We bet they love Andersonville as much as you do (if not, maybe some encouragement is in order…it’s not hard to find things to love about Andersonville).

You can also follow Andersonville 20/20 RIGHT HERE on the Smorgasblogg! We’ll be posting information about special events for 20/20 Challengers, great ideas for how to spend your 20 bucks, and updates on how we spent our 20 bucks each week.  You can comment and let us know what you’re spending your 20 bucks on, too!
