Starting November 1st Andersonville will launch Chicago’s first Streetscape Recycling Program!
Now you can recycle while you shop, dine, and play in the neighborhood!

The program will install 15 public recycling receptacles throughout the Clark Street corridor, stretching 5000 N. Winona to 5650 N. Olive.

Each receptacle will collect paper, glass, or plastic and aluminum. Recyclables will be picked up by the Chicago Resource Center, a not-for-profit hauling organization on Chicago’s South Side. The Chicago Resource Center guarantees a recycling rate of 99%.

The program is being implemented by the non-profit Andersonville Development Corporation (ADC).

In my five years working in Andersonville, there have been quite a few resourceful entrepreneurs who have opening businesses on the northern end of Andersonville. For those of you who only go north of Bryn Mawr to have brunch at M. Henry, there are several businesses who are participating in Andersonville Arts & Home Weekend that you must check out.
After the jump, a look at 5 business who may be ‘off the map’, but are more than worth the walk this coming weekend.
