Join the Swedish American Museum this weekend to celebrate their beautiful new facade!

Happy 3-day weekend, everyone! You may have a small vacation, but there won’t be a break in the goings-on in Andersonville over Memorial Day Weekend.  Join the Swedish American Museum to celebrate their beautiful new facade with FREE admission to the Museum and activites all weekend.  There’s also Memorial Day festivities with a parade and a community-wide pig roast sponsored by the West Andersonville Neighbors Together (WANT). FRIDAY, MAY 22

No events on our Community Calendar for today, but start the Memorial Day Weekend off right with one of our suggestions for celebrating the warmer weather.

SATURDAY, MAY 23

General Meeting and Guest Speaker at the Edgewater Historical Society, 5358 N. Ashland, 10:00 am.

A New Face in Andersonville Community Celebration at the Swedish American Museum, 5211 N. Clark, 11:00 am – 4:00 pm, FREE.

Freda’s Line Dancing Classes at Unity Lutheran Church, 1212 W. Balmoral, 12:00-1:00 pm.

SUNDAY, MAY 24

A New Face in Andersonville Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at the Swedish American Museum, 5211 N. Clark, 3:00 pm, FREE but RESERVATIONS REQUIRED.

MONDAY, MAY 25

Edgewater Memorial Day Parade and Bike Decoration Contest, starts at 5739 N. Clark, participants assemble at 9:15 am, parade starts at 10:00 am.

WANT Pig Roast and Community Celebration at Ravenswood Pub, 5455 N. Ravenswood, 12:00 noon, FREE food, music, and fun.

EXHIBITS

Katarina Jonsson Soderberg: between Heaven and Earth at the Swedish American Musuem, 5211 N. Clark.

Thom Greene: Unbuilt Projects and Fantasy Architecture at the Edgewater Historical Society, 5358 N. Ashland.

Small Works/Big Ideas at Morpho Gallery, 5216 N. Damen. Opening reception on Friday, May 22 at 6:00 pm.

THEATER

Raven Theatre presents Hedda Gabler at The Raven, 6157 N. Clark.  Thursdays through Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 3:00 p.m.

The Neo-Futurists present Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind at The Neo-Futurarium, 5153 N. Ashland.  Fridays & Saturdays at 11:30 pm, Sundays at 7:00 pm.
