If you're looking for a chance to scope out Andersonville's finest, don't miss the Midsommarfest Pet Parade on the Family Stage at Clark and Balmoral at noon on Saturday, June 13.
One of the only things more interesting than people watching in Andersonville is watching their dogs. Andersonville is a great neighborhood in which to have a dog, with many dog-friendly businesses that allow entry and even provide water and treats to dogs.
Starting in 2008, the City of Chicago has been issuing a special Dog Friendly Area License as a supplement to the Retail Food Establishment Licence. This allows restaurants who have sidewalk cafes to legally accomodate dogs, as well as their owners. For more information about this special license and some of the rules and regs, check out this info sheet from the City of Chicago.
Find out what restaurants in Andersonville have the Dog Friendly Area License after the jump.

We are proud to present a new initiative of the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce, Andersonville 20/20!
Andersonville 20/20 is a grassroots community-wide initiative to help support the unique and independent businesses in Andersonville by challenging our neighbors to think about how they spend 20 bucks.
It’s pretty easy to spend 20 bucks. Most of us spend this much each week eating, drinking, shopping or just plain living without really thinking about it. Andersonville 20/20 is challenging us to think about it.
YOU can join the 20/20 Challenge by signing our online pledge to spend 20 bucks each week in Andersonville for the next 20 weeks. The more people who participate in our challenge, the more we invest to keep Andersonville a great place to eat, drink, shop and live. The independent businesses that make our community so unique would really appreciate your support.
Tell your friends about Andersonville 20/20. You can double-triple-quadruple your impact by forwarding Andersonville 20/20 to your friends and encouraging them to join the Challenge! We bet they love Andersonville as much as you do (if not, maybe some encouragement is in order…it’s not hard to find things to love about Andersonville).
You can also follow Andersonville 20/20 RIGHT HERE on the Smorgasblogg! We’ll be posting information about special events for 20/20 Challengers, great ideas for how to spend your 20 bucks, and updates on how we spent our 20 bucks each week. You can comment and let us know what you’re spending your 20 bucks on, too!

Now that is seems like it may stay on the warm side weather-wise, it is time for Andersonville lovers everywhere to turn their attention to the official kickoff of the summer festival season – Midsommarfest! This year’s festival takes place on Saturday, June 13 and Sunday June 14 from 11:00 am – 10:00 pm both days and promises to once again be (in our humble opinion) the best party in the city. We will have delicious food, great vendors, cold beer and 4 stages of music for your carefree dancing pleasure. The line up on all 4 stages is now final – see it after the jump!
